The Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium is additional funding to support Year 7 students who did not achieve the expected standard in Reading, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) or Mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2. The aim of this strategy is not only to ensure the efficient use of this funding so that ‘catch up’ students are in line with their peers by the end of year 7, but also to ensure that the gap in attainment at KS2 reduces as they progress through KS3 and into KS4 study.

Though the programme targets all students who are below the age-related expectation, students classified as Disadvantaged and with a SEND have been targeted specifically as these cohorts of students under-perform nationally compared to their peers and we want to ensure that we are prioritising these as a consequence.
